How It All Started 🤎
Browned is a proudly New Zealand-owned and operated small business based in Auckland, specialising in premium, handcrafted brown butter cookies.
Funny enough, Browned was never actually part of the plan.
At the beginning of this year, I set myself a simple and personal goal: to learn how to bake. Little did I know, that one small goal would turn into something so much bigger.
The very first thing I learned to bake was actually brown butter cookies, and from that moment, I was hooked. I found myself baking them day after day, completely falling in love with them. What started as simply learning a new skill quickly turned into experimenting, tweaking and perfecting my very own signature Brown Butter Cookie recipe.
One day, I jokingly mentioned that my cookies might actually be good enough to sell. What started as a little joke soon turned into giving away free cookies to people in my local community in exchange for their honest feedback. People absolutely loved them!
And just like that, Browned was born.
What began in my kitchen as a personal goal, has since grown into something I could have never imagined. Today, we're proudly baking and shipping our Brown Butter Cookies to customers all across New Zealand. We've even introduced our very own Self Serve Cookie Cart, something we designed and brought to life completely from scratch, with no previous experience or knowledge of how to build one! I didn't know how things would go, or what the full vision ever was, but I knew I would figure it out along the way.
Looking back, it's honestly crazy to think that a simple New Year's goal to learn how to bake turned into a love for Brown Butter Cookies, then a little business, and now something that continues to grow beyond anything I originally dreamed of.
Browned is proof that sometimes the best things in life are the ones you never planned for.
We're still learning, growing and dreaming bigger every day, and none of this would be possible without the incredible support we've received along the way.
